The beginning
2017
I started drawing daily since January 2017, but stopped for months since the birth of my second child in end February, and only picked it up again in December.
Lunch at Coffeesmith
7 Jan 2017
Platinum carbon pen
My very first urban sketch. I was very nervous about sketching in public.
My garden
9 Jan 2017
Watercolour on cheap paper
I was sorely disappointed after painting this as it looked nothing like those paintings I saw on Instagram. Thankfully I didn't give up just then.
Paul Heaston inspired
20 Jan 2017
Platinum Carbon Pen
Sketch of our furnitured, inspired by Paul Heaston's Craftsy class.
Peter on his computer
29 Jan 2017
Platinum Carbon Pen
Easy to sketch from life as this model almost never moves.
My living room
4 Feb 2017
Watercolour and pen
Was very sad when I ruined the drawing with the very bad watercolour wash.
Peter on his computer (again)
7 Feb 2017
Fountain pen with De Atramentis gray ink
A very common sight in our house.
Living room (view across the sofa)
11 Feb 2017
Platinum Carbon Pen
Too lazy to get a different view to draw!
My art tools
13 Feb 2017
Fountain pen with De Atramentis brown ink
A little obsessed with ink at that time.
Our car
15 Feb 2017
Watercolour and water soluble ink
Wanted to capture the contrast of the warm setting sun on the cooler shadows but utterly failed. Also I took too long to paint and ended up painting in the dark.
Peter
20 Feb 2017
What I draw when I don't know what to draw. It didn't occur to me yet that I could sketch from photo.
Peter sleeping
21 Feb 2017
Peter sleeping while I sketched on my iPhone (SE) with my finger (in the dark). I guess that was a bit obsessive.
Sketching me sketching
1 Dec 2017
Starting to sketch again, after the long interruption by Harriet's birth.
The house across the street
10 Dec 2017
Pen
Sometimes when it is too cold to go outside, I just sit at the window and sketch the house across the street.
Driving hands
23 Dec 2017
Sketch of Peter's hands (drawn from life) as he was driving, on our way to his parents' house for Christmas. Extra wobbly lines!
